The Richmond County School System Board of Education has named an interim superintendent of schools following the resignation of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw on Dec. 2.
Dr. Malinda Cobb was named as the interim on Thursday afternoon at a called board meeting.
The interim pick is currently the district’s Associate Superintendent of Academic Services, and will begin her role as interim on Jan. 1.
Background and accomplishments
Dr. Cobb was a high school and middle school ELA teacher for 11 years serving Westlake High School in Fulton County and Josey High School and Murphey Middle School in Richmond County.
She then served as a school administrator for nine years.
While serving as the principal of Goshen Elementary, the school was named a Title I School of Distinction.
Dr. Cobb was also the first female principal of the Academy of Richmond County High School in its 229-year history. Under her leadership, the school’s graduation rate increased from 59.5 to 85.3.
