Richmond County provides another update on Thursday’s shooting

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office issued a correction and update on Thursday’s shooting, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also issued a news release.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has charged Ladeeje Z. Harvey, 25, with Harvey has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree in connection with Thursday’s shooting of Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputy John Tarpley, according to a GBI news release.

Harvey has been released from the hospital and is currently incarcerated at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in connection with Thursday’s shooting of Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputy John Tarpley, the news release said.

Harvey has a twin sister, Ladije, and both spellings of the name appear on Ladeeje Z. Harvey’s criminal history report, according to a 2:16 p.m. Friday email from Sgt. Caleb Lee with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

“Ladije Harvey is the convicted felon and she is currently incarcerated at Whitworth Women’s Facility in Hartwell, Ga. Shooting suspect, Ladeeje Harvey has only traffic charges and no pre-existing warrants as previously reported,” Lee wrote.

Darius Daquan Rivera, 25, has two outstanding state court bench warrants.

Once the GBI completes its independent investigation it will be given to the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney for review, according to the GBI news release.
