Richmond County school spokeswoman Lynthia Ross sent out an email Thursday morning to refute rumors of a stabbing at Murphey Middle School.

She said parents at T.W. Josey High School as well as Murphey Middle School were sent information via ShoutPoint email, voice and text message to families with students. The printed letter will be sent home this afternoon.

It reads:

Dear Murphey Middle School Families,

Please be aware that a health emergency on our joint school campus required the school to request emergency medical service assistance. First responders quickly arrived to support our school nurse and the person needing medical attention. During the response to the health emergency, a student photographed the empty stretcher and sent an airdrop message that someone was stabbed. There was no stabbing at our school or on our campus. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

As always, I appreciate your support of the Richmond County School System and Murphey Middle School.
