In preparation for the new academic year, the Richmond County School System is asking new families in the area to register their children for school as some programs have limited openings.

As the RCSS finishes preparing for the first day of school on Aug. 5 for elementary schools and Aug. 6 for middle, K8, magnet and high schools, the system is encouraging families to register their children into respective schools and programs ahead of time.

For those seeking a pre-kindergarten program, Blythe, Lamar-Milledge and Jenkins-White Elementary schools still have openings.

“We are excited to welcome new families to the RCSS community,” said Marcus Allen, assistant superintendent of Support Services. “With the first day of school coming up, we encourage parents and guardians to register early so our educators and staff can prepare to receive students.”

Families of new or transferring students can register online, and staff are available at schools from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays through July 26 to answer calls with questions about the registration process.

Parents and guardians can also complete onsite registration with staff assistance by visiting their children’s zoned school on July 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
