After five and a half years as superintendent and nearly a decade of service to the Richmond County School System (RCSS), Kenneth Bradshaw has announced his resignation, effective Dec. 31.
“Serving the Richmond County School System has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Bradshaw. “This decision did not come lightly, as my time here has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my professional life.”
Under Bradshaw’s leadership, RCSS has achieved the highest graduation rate in its history and made notable progress in improving academic outcomes for students.

“While I have enjoyed serving the Richmond County School System, I believe now is the right time to step away to be closer to the Atlanta metropolitan area and my family,” said Bradshaw. “I am thankful for the incredible educators, staff, and Board of Education members who have worked alongside me to support our students and families.”
Bradshaw’s tenure included collaborative efforts with Columbia County to establish the Junior Achievement (JA) Discovery Center, an educational resource serving students across the CSRA.
“While it is bittersweet to step away, I have full confidence in the district’s ability to continue achieving great things for our community,” he said.
Bradshaw also helped the school system make historic raises in teacher and staff pay to retain top professionals and increased the system bond rating and general fund to enhance facilities and provide the best resources for students.
“We are grateful to Dr. Bradshaw for his years of service and the strides our school system made under his leadership. While we are saddened to see Dr. Bradshaw leave, we fully support his decision and wish him the very best,” said Board President Charlie Walker. “The Board is committed to ensuring a seamless transition and finding the right leader to continue building on the strong foundation he has helped establish.”
