Road closures planned Sunday for Columbia County Christmas parade

Lanes will be closed in Columbia County.

Several major roads in the Evans area will temporarily close Sunday, Dec. 7, for the annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Merchants Association of Columbia County, officials announced.

The closures, coordinated by Columbia County and the Merchants Association, will begin at noon and will affect thru traffic on North Belair Road, Evans Town Center Boulevard, Evans to Locks Road and Antebellum Way.

County roads that intersect the parade route will also be closed at their entrances and exits, according to a press release from Columbia County. Closure times may vary depending on weather.

According to the county, the following intersections will be fully or partially closed during the parade:

  • Industrial Park Drive at North Belair Road — completely closed
  • Ronald Reagan Drive at North Belair Road — completely closed
  • Ronald Reagan Drive at Evans Town Center Boulevard — no left or right turns, thru traffic only
  • Main Street at Evans Town Center Lane — completely closed
  • Encore Lane at Evans Town Center Lane — completely closed
  • Williamsburg Way at Allen Drive — completely closed
  • TaxSlayer Drive at Allen Drive — completely closed
  • Allen Drive — completely closed
  • North Belair Road at Evans Town Center Boulevard — completely closed

Additional closures include:

  • Evans Town Center Boulevard northbound from Washington Road will be closed at Evans to Locks Road.
  • Evans to Locks Road eastbound from Washington Road will be closed at Evans Town Center Boulevard.
  • North Belair Road northbound from Washington Road will be closed to left turns or straight movement at Evans to Locks Road; drivers must detour right.
  • Evans to Locks Road westbound will be closed to right turns and thru traffic at North Belair Road; drivers must detour left.

County officials advise motorists to plan alternate routes during the parade.
