Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures on Old Union Road beginning Monday, Sept. 29, as crews carry out resurfacing work.

Columbia County, working with Reeves Construction Company, announced that closures will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Tuesday, Oct. 7, weather permitting.

Officials are urging motorists to use caution in the area.

Drivers should slow down in work zones, leave extra space between vehicles, watch for warning signs, and follow the directions of road crew flaggers.

“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected,” the announcement stated.

The county also advises commuters to consider alternate routes or allow additional travel time while the resurfacing is underway.
