Rooted Coffee, the café that opened at Evans Towne Center in June, has announced its expansion in the Meybohm building.
The coffee shop, which has another location in the Riverwood Town Center, shared a space with Alumni Cookie Dough,. The two eateries were both housed in Suite 213 in the Meybohm building.
Rooted Coffeehouse will now be taking over the whole space, which a development which will entail an expanded menu, which items such as grain bowls, bone broth and fresh juices.
“We’re excited to curate a menu that looks different from our current offerings,” said Rooted co-owner Heather Needles. “We know that when we nourish the roots, we tend to the soul, and that is what we plan to accomplish with this new menu.”
The announcement, distributed via Meybohm Realty, says the café’s spreading out is a “response to the growing demand from customers for a more diverse and substantial menu.” The development comes as suitemate Alumni Cookie Dough closes its doors in the CSRA for the second time, with no plans of setting up a new Augusta-area location.
Kim and Patrick Cliett first opened a franchise of the Athens-based dessert shop on Town Park Lane in Evans, in the fall of 2019. The shop powered through the pandemic before Jenifer Harpley approached the Clietts about starting an Alumni food truck. They ultimately sold Harpley the franchise, and she relocated to the Meybohm building in the summer of this year.
“Rooted Coffeehouse has become a cherished part of our community, and we are confident that this expansion will only enhance the exceptional experience they provide to their customers,” said Jordan Collier, Meybohm’s director of commercial development. “We are extremely proud of this local small business and hope the community will continue to show up in a big way to support this expansion.”
Rooted Coffee expects its expansion to be complete in 2024, but will remain open in its current section of the suite in the meantime.
