The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections conducted on Dec. 1–5.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 78 earned by K&J Soulbar and Grill, located at 720 East Robinson Ave., Suite 101-102, in Grovetown.
During the inspection, the inspector noticed expired paperwork on site, and deducted four points from the health score.
“Observed expired CSFM certificate,” the report stated. “Obtain new CSFM certificate within 30 days.
The inspector docked an additional nine points for finding food improperly stored.
“Observed raw chicken stacked over raw pork and seafood in reach in cooler,” the report stated. “Stack all food in order of safe cook temp with chicken on bottom.”
The inspector deducted another nine points for noticing containers of dressings left out.
“Observed [temperature control safety] dressings left out on shelves at 73 degrees F, room temp,” the report stated. “Refrigerate all TCS foods so they are kept below 41 degrees F for cold holding.”
The second lowest score of the week was an 81 given to Roadway Inn, located at 2926 Peach Orchard Road, in Augusta.
The inspector deducted five points for witnessing heated water kept at a dangerous temperature.
“Observed water in room 119 at 127 degrees F,” the report stated. “Adjust hot water heater lower to prevent accidental scalding by customer.”
During the inspection, the inspector deducted five more points for finding food items improperly displayed/stored.
“Observed milk and cereal in dispensers for public breakfast,” the report stated. “Foods should be self contained and prepackaged. If not then a food service permit MUST be obtained from the health department.”
The inspector deducted another four points finding rusty equipment in rooms.
“Observed rusty microwaves in rooms 119, and 209,” the report stated. “Replace with new microwaves as soon as practicable.”
An additional four points was deducted for the inspector witnessing dirty linens in several rooms.
“Observed dirty linens and linens with holes burned in them in rooms: 201, 215, 108, and 119,” the report stated. “Linens should be cleaned to removed stains or replaced if unable to properly clean them or have holes in them.”
For missing anti-slip grips in bathroom tubs of multiple rooms, the establishment lost another point.
“Observed no anti-slips grips in the tubs of rooms 210, 209, 215, 108, and 119,” the report stated. “Place no slip grips in tubs in all guest rooms.”
Following the inn’s inspection, the third lowest score of the week was an 83 given to Jamaica Way and Jamaica Way Mobile, located at 2832 Washington Road, in Augusta.
For seeing mold in kitchen equipment, the inspector deducted four points from the health score.
“Observed mold like substance inside ice maker,” the report stated. “Clean ice maker.”
During the inspection, the inspector deducted nine more points for noticing food improperly stored.
“Observed [temperature control safety] food in [walk–in-cooler] not at 41F or below,” the report stated. “Cold storage of [temperature control safety] food is required to be at 41F or below.”
The inspector deducted a final four points from the establishment’s health score for a lack of labeling on prepped food items.
“Observed no prep and discard dates on any items that were prep by the establishment,” the report stated. “[Temperature control safety] food that is been prepped and not in original package will need a prep and discard date.”
