Salvation Army ‘Angel Tree’ program accepting applications Oct. 2

Date: September 19, 2023
The Salvation Army’s annual toy and clothing giveaway for needy children begins accepting applications Oct. 2.

Children must be 12 or younger as of Dec. 31 and the application process is online only, according to a news release.

Maj. Amanda Raymer, area commander of the Salvation Army of Augusta said last year’s Angel Tree program provided more than 1,100 children with toys and winter clothing.

“This Christmas season, we anticipate the need for a hand-up to be just as great,” she said.

Once a child is registered and accepted, their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in the community. The donors purchase gifts of new clothing and toys, which are distributed to the family.

Applicants must submit a copy of ID, children’s birth certificates, proof of residency such as a lease or bill and proof of need like a pay stub, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families card or housing voucher.

If approved, the parent or guardian will receive an email with the date and time to pick up the gifts.

Visit https://saangeltree.org starting at 9 a.m. Oct. 2 to apply.

The Salvation Army of Augusta serves residents in Richmond, Columbia, Wilkes, Burke, McDuffie and Glascock counties.
