This Thanksgiving, The Salvation Army of Augusta is extending an invitation to the community for a holiday meal on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 5:30-6 p.m.
In addition to serving clients at the local emergency shelter, Thanksgiving Dinner at The Center of Hope, located at 1384 Greene St., will be open to anyone in the community who needs a meal.
“For many, rising food costs make it challenging to celebrate the holiday,” said Maj. Jonathan Raymer, area commander of The Salvation Army of Augusta. “We are here to ensure that everyone has a chance to experience the warmth and joy of Thanksgiving.”
The Salvation Army of Augusta will also be offering shelf-stable good boxes to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Those in need of a food box can go to salvationarmyaugusta.org and complete a “Contact Us” form.
As volunteers are the heart of this effort, those wanting to serve on Thanksgiving Day can sign up by visiting salvationarmyaugusta.org and clicking on the “Volunteer” tab.
For locals unable to attend but still wanting to make an impact, donations can be made online at donateaugusta.com.
“Every contribution helps bring hope and holiday cheer to families in need,” according to a press release from The Salvation Army of Augusta.
