This September, the Salvation Army of Augusta has partnered with Terry Lambert Hyundai for a food drive benefiting The Center of Hope Soup Kitchen.
Non-perishable food items, including shelf-stable and canned foods, will be collected throughout the month to help meet the growing demand for meals provided by the soup kitchen.
Community members are encouraged to drop off their donations at Terry Lambert Hyundai, located at 5585 Jefferson Davis Highway, in North Augusta. Donations can also be made at any Salvation Army locations, including The Center of Hope, The Kroc Center, and all Family Stores or the Donation Center.
“The need for food donations is critical as we continue to see an increase in the number of meals served each day at The Center of Hope,” said Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Augusta, Major Jonathan Raymar. “We are grateful to Terry Lambert Hyundai for joining us in this effort and to our community for stepping up to support their neighbors in need.”
Alongside the food drive, The Center of Hope is urgently seeking volunteers to assist in the soup kitchen due to recent staffing shortages. Additional volunteers are needed to ensure that meals are prepared and served smoothly.
“The Center of Hope Soup Kitchen serves breakfast and dinner every day of the year and welcomes volunteers every afternoon starting at 3:30 p.m.,” stated a press release from The Salvation Army of Augusta. “Volunteers help with meal preparation, greeting clients, distributing meals and cleaning up after dinner service.”
Currently, The Center of Hope serves approximately 80 to 90 people daily – a number that continues to rise.
“The Salvation Army has been a cornerstone of support in our community, and we at Terry Lambert Hyundai are honored to partner with them for this food drive,” said Terry Lambert, owner of Terry Lambert Hyundai.

“Helping our neighbors in need is at the heart of what we do, and we encourage everyone to contribute in any way they can, whether by donating food or their time,” said Lambert.
