With more than a decade of in-house success, Schrodinger’s Cat is taking its show on the road and spreading the laughter with several comedy events planned this week.
“We’d planned on doing this last year, but then, COVID hit,” said Michael Fortino, who leads the group. Schrodinger’s Cat will bring its eXtreme Theatre Games with improvisation and comedy to three different stages Thursday, April 8 through Saturday, April 10.

Fortino kicked off things Wednesday with Ryan Abel on The Bobby Jones Invitational Show, which airs live on YouTube through Sunday. The podcast will feature different guests taking people through the golf tournament (with golf on mute) while adding a local twist from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 8-10 and from noon to 3 p.m. April 11.
Schrodinger’s Cat will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday at Le Chat Noir. For tickets, visit. lcnaugusta.com. The group will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at Downtown Alley Tap Room and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday as part of the Bogey Night Comedy Bash at Shared Space Augusta.
The Bogey Night Comedy Bash will be from 6 p.m. to midnight. The event features live music as well as cocktails and dinner. It’s a fundraiser for Hunting for the Cure, an organization that provides outdoor experiences for children with cancer. Tickets to the fundraiser are $50. Augusta’s stand-up comedy scene has taken off this year with regular events at the Elks Club, Joe’s Underground and Soul Bar. Schrodinger’s Cat has been the anchor for improvisational sketch comedy in the area for 12 years, he said.
“We’ve been doing First Friday shows at 8 and 10,” Fortino said. “We’ve always sold out the 8 p.m. show.”
Pre-COVID, the sell-out crowd was 100, but now it’s down to 40 because of social distancing restrictions.
Fortino said smaller audiences are okay because 40 people in the setting with spaced out tables give it more of a comedy club feel.
In addition to the usual First Friday offering, Schrodinger’s Cat has recently added a regular monthly appearance in Aiken at the Downtown Alley Tap Room, and there are plans to add more shows in the downtown Augusta area in the coming months, he said.
The group has also been working with some of Augusta’s stand-up comedy talent.
