A former Augusta firefighter was convicted Friday, May 13, of murder and other charges in the death of his girlfriend’s 23-month-old son.
The Columbia County Superior Court jury deliberated just over an hour at the conclusion of a five-day trial before convicted Charles Michael Sconyers, 31, of murder and child abuse in the May 4, 2019, death of Lincoln Davitte.
The child suffered a catastrophic head injury on May 1, 2019, at his home while alone with Sconyers.
Judge J. Wade Padgett sentenced Sconyers to life with possible parole.
