Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate what happened at Clarks Hill Lake that ended with two Augusta men drowning.

Eynn Wilson, age 34, and Edward Kirk, age 37, went missing the afternoon of April 25, 2020 while they were on a pontoon boat in Little River near Cherokee Park.

GBI Special Agent Pat Morgan said they, along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, continue to investigate how the men ended up in the water.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has released its incident report on the event.

Initial reports given to DNR said Wilson jumped into the water and never re-surfaced. Kirk jumped in to look for him, but Kirk also failed to re-surface.

The DNR report said the information changed the next day.

“Game Wardens were advised of information that the victims may have been shoved from the vessel rather than jump. Videos surfaced of the incident. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and GBI were notified of the videos. The Sheriff’s Office and GBI began to assist with the investigation.”

DNR, LCSO and the dive team from Columbia County Fire/Rescue Department conducted a week-long search for the men.

On the morning of May 1, the body of Eynn Wilson was located. Later that day, the body of Edward Kirk was recovered.

They were found near each other in 30-35 feet of water, about 350 feet from shore.
