Several Clinics Planned for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Anyone interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccination will have several opportunities soon.

On Monday, May 10, vaccinations for veterans, their caregivers and spouses of veterans will be consolidated into one clinic. It will be at the downtown VA at 950 15th Street. Appointments can be made by calling the Charlie Norwood VA at 706-733-0188 ext. 3613 or 3265.

On Friday, May 14, University Hospital is holding a vaccination clinic at Augusta Technical College from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for Georgia residents age 18 and older. This will be a first or second dose of the Moderna vaccine. You can register at this website.

Finally, the Augusta Airport and Gold Cross EMS are teaming up to help people get COVID-19 vaccinations.

The clinic will be Monday, May 17, 2021 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at hangar 2 at 1501 Aviation Way.

Gold Cross EMS will be giving Pfizer vaccine shots on a first-come, first-serve basis as long as supply is available. The clinic is for walk ups, so there is no need to schedule an appointment.

The second shot will be given June 14, 2021. There is no charge for the vaccinations.

Dana Lynn McIntyre is an award-winning reporter who began working in radio news in her hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She also worked as a television news photographer for a station in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Dana moved to Savannah, Ga. in 1984 to join the news team at WIXV-FM/I95 Radio. In early 1986, WBBQ Radio in Augusta invited her to interview for a position with the news department. Within three weeks, Dana was living in Olde Town and working at a legendary radio station. Dana left WBBQ in 1996 to join WJBF NewsChannel 6 as assignment manager. Among Dana’s awards from the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association are for Excellence in General Assignment Reporting, Spot News and Specialized Reporting. Dana also received an award for Public Service Reporting from the West Augusta Rotary Club for a story with actor LeVar Burton on his PBS Television show “Reading Rainbow."
