In December 2019, Shared Space in Augusta closed its doors after less than a year of business. On Sept. 1, 2021, they re-opened at the same location with a new approach.
After Shared Space moved out, Austin Matthews and Keith Stille opened a similar business in the location called The Space, combining the office rental side with an events venue. Now, Daniel Levison of Shared Space has partnered with the existing tenants to combine their efforts.

“We have created a partnership with those guys on the events space,” Levison said. “So we will both focus on what we do best. The flexible office space will be called 901 Greene Street and the events side will remain The Space.”
Levison said the costs of renting the office space have dropped about 25%, something he hopes will be a step in the right direction of having more success this time around. He said they’ve also cut down some of the office sizes, bringing down three-person offices to two-person, four-person offices down to three-person, etc.
“We’ve cut down a lot of our overhead,” Levison said. “We’re simplifying and just providing affordable, flexible office space, coffee and free parking.”

For potential customers concerned about parking, Levinson said there is a parking lot across the street that they purchased for members to use, and after 5 p.m. or on weekends, the board of education parking lot across from the business is free to the public.

Keith Stille, who opened The Space with Austin Matthews after Shared Space’s exit, expressed positive feelings about the partnership with Shared Space.
”We are really excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to seeing great things in the future through Amplified Events,” Stille said. “Amplified Events is focusing on hosting art exhibitions, receptions, social events, small parties, networking opportunities and after-hour social gatherings.”
Stille said the last six months have been a source of great traction for them and they look forward to serving the downtown area.
“This partnership gives us the best opportunity to grow and flourish will allowing 901 Greene Street to focus on the office space, which is their expertise.”
