The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to rumors Monday about a shooting at Augusta Mall.

Richmond County Sheriff Office deputy Ananias Reese responded to a call in reference to possible gun shots at 2:03 p.m. Sunday at the mall.

“Upon arrival, I entered the mall and spoke with security, who advised there was no active threat, and no shots were fired,” the report said.

According to the incident report, a 34-year-old female witness said she was eating in the food court when she saw two groups of five to six black males. Members of the two groups got into a verbal altercation and one of them displayed a gun.

At that point, “someone shouted gun and everyone began running away from the area,” the report said.

No one was injured and no property was damaged in the incident, the report said.
