A Hephzibah man is facing charges after an altercation escalated to shots being fired outside the Amazon facility around 5 a.m. Thursday morning.

In an emailed statement from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Maj. Steve Morris said that the incident involved three Amazon employees.

Ronnus Rand, 31, of Augusta, and Kadijah Robinson, 25, also of Augusta, were walking together in the parking lot while on break, Morris said. The two share a child together but are no longer in a relationship.

Jordan Beale, 20, of Hephzibah, who is currently dating Robinson, confronted Rand and the argument soon turned physical, according to Morris’ email. Beale then went to his vehicle and returned with a firearm, Morris said. The type of firearm was not specified.

Rand and Beale struggled over the gun and Beale fired several shots.

When deputies arrived, they located Beale inside the Amazon building, and he was taken into custody without further incident. Beale is being charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

No bond has been set at this time.
