The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has named a Hartwell agent to lead the Thomson GBI office, which covers the Augusta area.

GBI Special Agent Jamie Skelton

“It gives me great pride to announce the promotion of Jamie Skelton to the position of Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Region 7 Office,” GBI Director Mike Register said. “Agent Skelton’s unwavering dedication serves as a stellar example.”

Skelton joined the Georgia Army National Guard in 1994 and is an Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle veteran who became a special agent with the GBI in 2007. He has a bachelor of science from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga.

He replaces Sara Lue, who was recently promoted to lead the GBI Cyber Crime Center in Augusta.

Skelton has held assignments with the State Drug Task Force, West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office. He currently serves as team leader with the GBI’s Special Enforcement Team and is a certified POST instructor and firearms instructor.

“ASAC Skelton has a drive and energy that motivates all those that are around him. He will not only have a positive impact on the Region 7 office, but also on the surrounding community that Region 7 serves,” GBI Division Director of Investigations Cynthia Adkins said.
