A small fire broke out Monday morning at Augusta National Golf Club, but fire crews quickly responded and prevented it from spreading, according to Augusta Fire Public Information Officer Latisha Hanford.

The fire was reported at 11:14 a.m., with crews arriving on scene shortly after. A 911 call indicated the presence of a fire, which was contained by fire engines before it could escalate. By 1:09 p.m., the situation had been fully resolved, with no injuries or damages to report.

According to Hanford, the fire was sparked by a generator in a secluded testing area, located near Azalea Drive and Magnolia Drive. “It was a unit spark caused by some testing and other activities taking place,” she said.

The Augusta Fire Department posted this photo on their Facebook page from the fire at Augusta National.

The fire was contained within the secured testing area, far from the golf course itself, and Augusta Fire officials held an after-action debriefing to review the response. No one was harmed during the incident.

Hanford emphasized that the situation was under control and the investigation has confirmed there was no foul play involved.
