Softball Team Headed to Dixie World Series

Members of the All-Stars are on their way to the Dixie World Series.

On Friday morning, members of the Columbia County Recreational Department All-Stars youth softball team gathered at Patriot’s Park to get ready for a trip to Monck’s Corner, S.C., where they will play against the Dixie Belles.

Teams from all across the country compete for a state championship title to advance to the World Series, according to Harrison Fisher, head coach.

The All-Stars, part of the Angel Division and comprised of 13 girls, played four games this summer to ultimately win the state tournament against the team in host team in Cochran, Ga. to represent Georgia in the Dixie World Series.

“We play in a world series to see who’s the best state in the southeastern regions,” Fisher said.

The Dixie World Series is played July 23-26.
