The Augusta Symphony’s next concert is sold out, but there are a couple of other ways to experience the music.
With the Miller Theater operating at reduced capacity, symphony subscribers will fill the available seats of the evening performance of Feb. 20, according to Camilia Mouton, marketing manager.
At 2 p.m., there’s a dress rehearsal, which will be open to the public.

“It’s a working rehearsal,” said Mouton. “There shouldn’t be many starts and stops.”
The rehearsal will feature the full program called “America.”
“This celebrates the diversity of the musical heritage of America,” she said.
Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” will be one of the highlighted pieces. Other selections will include “Freedom” by Milad Yousufi, an Afghan refugee, Peggy Stuart Coolidge’s “Pioneer Dances” and “Lyric for Strings” by George Walker.
“Three of the composers are still alive. That’s unusual for a classical concert,” she said.

Not only will the theater be at reduced capacity for patron seating, but the stage will be limited for the number of musicians. Mouton said between 30 and 40 musicians will play the concert, and all will be masked.
Mouton said the dress rehearsal will be reserved seating. Masks and social distancing will be observed.
“Your group will be in the same pod,” she said.
Tickets for the dress rehearsal are $35.
Also, the concert at 8 p.m. will be livestreamed for $10. The concert will be kept on the website for about three days afterward.
There are two additional concerts on this year’s season. Mouton said she doesn’t know if the procedure will be the same for those two.
