South Carolina men’s basketball dominates Arkansas for conference win

Date: March 03, 2025

South Carolina (12-17, 2-14 SEC) dominated Arkansas (17-12, 6-10) in a Saturday afternoon men’s basketball game, defeating the Razorbacks 72-53 in front of 11,754 fans at Colonia Life Arena in Columbia, SC.  The Gamecocks, who lost their first 13 Southeastern Conference games this season, have now won two of their last three.

The Gamecocks were led by sophomore forward Connor Murray-Boyles who poured in a career best 35 points, his third consecutive game with at least 20 points. Graduate forward Nick Pringle added 19 points for South Carolina.

Gamecocks head coach Lamont Paris is now 3-0 against John Calipari, the NCAA leader in career wins among active coaches, including two wins when Calipari was coaching at Kentucky.

Arkansas struggled from the opening tipoff, falling behind 16-2 and scoring only 14 points in the first half, hitting just 3-of-24 shots from the field before intermission.  The 14 points is the second fewest by Arkansas in the shot clock era, having scored only 12 against Nebraska in 1987.

The Razorbacks were led in scoring by Karter Knox (11 points) and Jonas Aidoo (10).

Both teams return to action on Tuesday night as South Carolina plays Georgia in a home contest on Senior Night while Arkansas visits Vanderbilt.
