One of the Masters fan favorites is Jordan Spieth, who will be participating in his 10th tournament at Augusta National this week.
The 2015 Masters champion is looking to redeem himself this year after failing to make the cut last year.
Spieth, who spoke to the reporters on Monday, April 3, has had his ups and downs over the past few years, but he finds himself coming into the Masters ranked 16th in the world.
“I feel better about my game than I’ve felt since probably 2017,” Spieth told the media.
There’s something about the Masters tournament that has always brought the best out in Spieth, who finished in a tie for third in 2021.
In his nine times playing at the Masters, he’s finished in the top three five times.
“You may carry a trophy around, if you’re not a golf fan, and you may get confused,” said Spieth. “But even the non-golf fans know what the green jacket is.”
Spieth, who finished in second in 2014 and 2016 and third in 2018, knows the weight of being a Masters champion and how memorable that can be. He’ll be looking to rekindle some of the 2015 magic and win his second green jacket.
The Augusta faithful will be coming out in large crowds to support Spieth like always and would love to see the former University of Texas standout return to the top and put on the green jacket once again.
Spieth, who despite missing the cut last year, went on to win at Hilton Head the following week, certainly has a strong feeling about the Masters.
“I really fell in love with the game because of this tournament, back to Tiger’s chip-in to Phil’s first win,” Spieth said of Woods and Mickelson. “These were kind of heroic moments when I was at an age where I was playing some other sports and loving golf, and it inspired me to really take up the game and see what kind of moments you can create, because the ball is always in your hands. Few things are as electric as those moments they had in sports. I wanted to create my own.”
And Spieth hopes he can have another electric performance at Augusta National this week.
