Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) has recently received national recognition for their commitment to continued safety performances.
SRMC is the liquid waste contractor that removes and stabilizes radioactive liquid waste and closes the underground tanks at the Savannah River Site (SRS). These tanks were left over from the Cold War era.
They were awarded three prestigious awards by the National Safety Council (NSC): the Operational Excellence Award, the Perfect Record Award, and the Superior Safety Performance Award.
The Occupational Excellence Award is awarded to a company that injury and illness incidence rate involving days away from work that is equal-to or less-than 50 percent of organizations in the same industry. SRMC won this award for their excellent safety performance in this area in 2023.
SRMC earned the Perfect Record Award for operating over 12 million workers without an occupational injury or illness involving days away from work.
The Superior Safety Performance Award honors companies that have achieved a minimum of ten consecutive “perfect record” years, which means operating without sustaining an occupational injury or illness resulting in days away from work. SRMC Construction Services, which has about 800 craft workers, has worked for over 38 million safe hours. Receiving this award has been continuous since 1998.

The safety awards earned from the National Safety Council are tangible achievements showing that Savannah River Mission Completion’s safety culture is positive and proactive.”
