More than 50 employees from Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) rolled up their sleeves to participate in the United Way of Aiken County’s Project VISION Day of Caring, joining hundreds of local volunteers for a day dedicated to helping neighbors in need.
Project VISION — short for Volunteers In Service In Our Neighborhoods — took place on March 21, mobilizing volunteers across the county to contribute to a range of service projects.
SRMC’s team assisted with renovations, repairs, and landscaping at four United Way-supported agencies: TriCounty Development Center, Cumbee Center, Children’s Place and the Aiken County United Way office.
Volunteers also constructed a wheelchair-accessible ramp at a private residence designated by the United Way.
Bobbi Stavru, executive administrator and coordinator for SRMC Projects and Construction Services, led the company’s efforts and praised her colleagues for their enthusiasm.
“Our team takes every opportunity to support the community, especially those who are in need of help,” Stavru said. “I am proud to be a part of something that produces meaningful changes in the lives of my neighbors.”
SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson highlighted the importance of service beyond the workplace.
“Whether through time, talent, or treasure, SRMC employees are always willing to answer a call for help in our community,” Olson said. “It is always encouraging to see members of this team use their time away from work to benefit others.”
SRMC, the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site, is comprised of parent company BWX Technologies, Inc., along with partners Amentum and Fluor. The organization supports the U.S. Department of Energy’s mission through safe nuclear operations and community engagement.
