SRNS awards $45,000 in scholarships to 15 outstanding students

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) recently awarded $45,000 in college scholarships to 15 children of SRNS employees at the 2025 Family Scholarship Awards Ceremony at Newberry Hall in Aiken.

The SRNS Family Scholarship program aims to highlight the company’s commitment to supporting the education of employees’ children, according to a press release from SRNS.

Since 2009, SRNS has awarded more than $720,000 in scholarships to over 200 high school graduates.

By offering scholarships, SRNS attracts talented students and potential future employees while also supporting the educational needs of its workforce, according to a press release from SRNS.

This year’s recipients were selected based on their academic achievement, leadership and potential.

The 2025 SRNS Family Scholarship recipients are:

  • Thomas Battey, Aquinas High School, child of Thomas Battey, F Area Operations
  • Adrien Beak, Horse Creek Academy, child of Timothy Beak, Operational Technology
  • Sara Blume, Fox Creek High School, child of Tonya Tran, Information Technology
  • Alena Crowley, South Aiken Baptist Christian School, child of Alexia Crowley, Contracts and Supply Chain Management
  • Kaylah Feinauer, Palmetto Independent Educators, child of Daniel Feinauer, Facilities and Systems Engineering
  • Victoria Goodson, Aiken High School, child of Tommy Goodson, Safeguards, Security and Emergency Services
  • Da Young Han, Greenbrier High School, child of Kai Han, Pit Production Operations and Programs
  • Josiah Johnson, Barnwell High School, child of John Johnson, Operational Excellence
  • Audrey McCurry, Fox Creek High School, child of Daniel McCurry, Operational Technology
  • Madelyn McGhee, Augusta Christian High School, child of Marcus McGhee, Operational Technology
  • Carter Scott, Lakeside High School, child of Derek Colligan, Radiological Protection
  • Emma Tang, Greenbrier High School, child of Yun Yen Tang, Facilities and Systems Engineering
  • Adam Towner, South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, child of Stacey Towner, Pit Production Operations and Programs
  • Robert Watkins, Aiken High School, child of Robert Watkins, Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility Engineering
  • Richard Zhang, Naperville Central High School, child of Jianhua Zhang, Facilities and Systems Engineering

“Receiving this award from SRNS is such an incredible honor.,” said scholarship recipient Emma Tang. “To be recognized in this way means a lot, and I’m thankful for the support. This encourages me to keep striving, learning, and growing in everything I do.”

Sean Alford, senior vice president and chief administrative officer, emphasized how scholarships change communities as well as individual lives.

“Supporting the academic journey of these exceptional students aligns with our commitment to fostering educational excellence,” Alford said. “This scholarship not only invests in their futures but also in the future of our communities.”

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, a Fluor and HII partnership company, manages and operates the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, located near Aiken.
