Organized by the Irish American Heritage Society, the 48th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set to make a grand return to Broad Street this year, bringing festive cheer and cultural celebration to the heart of Augusta on Monday, March 17, at 2 p.m.

Founded in 1978, the Irish American Heritage Society has been dedicated to celebrating and preserving Irish culture, history, and traditions in Augusta.

Over the years, the Society has become a cornerstone of the local Irish-American community, hosting events, educational programs and cultural celebrations, according to a press release from the Irish American Heritage Society.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade remains one of its most cherished traditions, bringing together families, businesses and visitors to honor Irish heritage and strengthen the sense of community among Irish descendants and enthusiasts in the region.

The parade route begins at the James Brown Arena parking lot, travels up 7th Street, turns left on Greene Street, right on 11th Street, and right on Broad Street, before concluding at 6th Street.

“The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been part of Augusta’s cultural fabric for decades, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to Broad Street,” said Sean Mooney, president of the Irish American Heritage Society. “We know this event provides an economic boost to local restaurants, bars, and shops, and we’re excited to return to Broad for the benefit of both patrons and businesses alike.”

City officials and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have worked closely with the Society to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Their efforts have been vital in coordinating logistics and maintaining public safety throughout the event, according to a press release from the Irish American Heritage Society.

“Our partnership with the city and the Sheriff’s Office has been fantastic,” said Parade Chairman Matt Kelly. “They worked with us every step of the way to make this happen, and we can’t wait to see everyone lined up along Broad Street again.”
