Georgia State Rep. Henry “Wayne” Howard (D-Augusta) died Thursday. He was 67.
“We have lost a husband. father, grandfather, brother and all around family man who valued and loved us unconditionally just as we did him. He was a pillar in our family, the Augusta community and the state of Georgia,” according to a family statement released by his brother, Karlton Howard.
The family said that although its members grieve, they also celebrate the life he led.
Howard, who was first elected in 2007, represented District 124.
Funeral arrangements will be announced.
