The IRONMAN 70.3 takes place Sept. 26. It’s the largest half IRONMAN in the world, consisting of a 1.2-mile swim in the Savannah River, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile-run through downtown Augusta, a total of 70.3 miles of racing.

According to the Augusta Sports Council, the IRONMAN 70.3 in Augusta has generated an economic impact of more than $25 million dollars since the race’s inception in 2009.

More than 1,600 volunteers help out each year, and the IRONMAN Foundation has awarded a total of $143,949 in grant funding to 130 non-profit organizations in Augusta’s River Region.
