The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 7 office has completed its investigation into the April 25 drowning deaths of two Augusta men at Clarks Hill Lake, according to a Lincoln County official.

Eynn Wilson, 34, and Edward Kirk, 37, both of Augusta, went missing the afternoon of April 25, while they were boating at Little River near Cherokee Park. Initial reports given to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Wilson jumped into the water and never resurfaced. Kirk jumped in to look for him, but Kirk also failed to resurface.

Lincoln County District Attorney Bill Doupe said he is only waiting to receive the results of that.

The GBI, along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, began investigating when game wardens were told the victims may have been pushed from the boat, GBI Special Agent Pat Morgan said.

“Videos surfaced of the incident. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and GBI were notified of the videos. The Sheriff’s Office and GBI began to assist with the investigation,” according to the DNR.

Doupe is unsure how long it will take to review the file and determine if charges may be filed.
