Monday is the final day to register or change registration information to vote in the Nov. 5 general election.

In addition to a president, Richmond County voters will decide state House and Senate seats, elect four school board trustees and decide a school sales tax referendum.

In Richmond County, since the Augusta Municipal Building is closed due to Hurricane Helene, election staff will register voters from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the building’s lobby, 535 Telfair St., according to a news release from Elections Director Travis Doss.

Columbia County Board of Elections, located in Building G3 at 610 Ronald Reagan Drive, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

Voters can check their status by visiting their My Voter Page at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/ or Richmond County voters may call 706-821-2340. Columbia County voters may call 706-868-3355.

Presidential elections typically have the highest turnout nationwide. Four years ago, 65% of Augusta registered voters cast ballots in the general election, with 68% favoring Joe Biden for president and 31% voting for Donald Trump. The number of registered Richmond County voters remains around 128,000 now as it was in 2020.

Also Monday, absentee ballots will begin being mailed. Applications for a mailed absentee ballot are due by Oct. 25 and ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters may also apply for an absentee ballot by email, fax or at the online portal securemyabsenteeballot.sos.ga.gov/s/.

Advance in-person voting starts Oct. 15 at four locations in Augusta:

  • The Linda W. Beazley Community Room at Augusta Municipal Building
  • Henry Brigham Community Center, 2463 Golden Camp Road
  • Robert Howard Community Center, 103 Diamond Lakes Way
  • Warren Road Recreation Center, 300 Warren Road

On Election Day, all voters must use their assigned polling places. Voters who formerly voted at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church have been moved to the Brigham Center for Election Day voting.

Advance voting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 at the four sites. Sunday voting will be held Oct. 27 in the Beazley Room only.

In Columbia County, advance voting will take place at three locations:

  • Building G3, 610 Ronald Reagan Dr.
