A student was found with a pocket knife at Harlem High School on Monday, Oct. 28.
According to a letter sent out to parents, it was reported to administrators that a student was showing a knife to other students. The Columbia County Police Department investigated and found the student with the knife. There were no threats made, but the student is being held accountable according to the law and code of conduct.

“Safety is a top priority and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously,” the letter said. “Parents, please speak with your student about items that are not appropriate to bring to school and the serious consequences that will follow. Suspicious activity should be reported immediately to a teacher, administrator or the CCSD Police. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff.

Evans Elementary School incident
Also on Monday, a student was found with a pocket knife at Evans Elementary School. Just like at Harlem, the school district police were notified and discovered the knife in the student’s possession. There were no threats made and the pocket knife was taken from the student.
“Parents, please speak with your children about items that are not appropriate to bring to school and the serious consequences that will follow. Working together we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff,” said a letter sent out to parents.
