The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on June 23–27.
Worst score in this week’s health inspections
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 67 earned by a Subway, located at 724 Laney Walker Extension, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector noted no food safety certification manager and a general lack of food safety knowledge, which resulted in a four-point deduction.
“Observed no food safety certification manager in addition to multiple priority violations, including food safety knowledge,” the report stated.
The inspector also reported witnessing improper food storage, resulting in another four-point reduction.
“Observed jalapeños stored in handwashing sink,” the report stated. “Have handwashing sink accessible at all times and store food in the food designated area.”
The inspector also deducted four points from the health score for noticing no safety procedures regarding events of sickness.
“Observed no response procedures for vomiting and diarrheal events,” the report stated. “Obtain written procedures and an EPA registered disinfectant effective against Norovirus for vomiting and diarrheal events.”
The inspector also deducted four points for seeing strange debris in the kitchen.
“Observed brown-like debris on the food racks of stored foods in the [walk-in-cooler],” the report stated.
The food establishment lost another nine points for discovering further improper food storage.
“Observed [time control sensitive] foods (sliced tomatoes-51 degrees Fahrenheit, lettuce-61 degrees Fahrenheit, and sliced onions-48 degrees Fahrenheit) cold held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit,” the report stated.
Three more points were deducted as a result of frozen meat being stored on the floor.
“Observed frozen meat stored on floor in [walk-in-freezer],” the report stated. “Observed boxes of chips and drinks stored on floor in panty. All food should be stored above 6 inches off the floor.”
