Downtown Augusta business owners are teaming up to host Small Business Saturday on Nov. 27. All they need now are Augustans to come down and participate.

Visitors can collect a custom button from each purchase at a participating business. Each button collected nets one entry for the gift basket grand prize. Those participating businesses are Art on Broad, Freshwater Design Co., Augusta Candle Company, Field and Land of Thee, Funhouse, Grantski Records, The Book Tavern and Mod Ink, Bees Knees Coffee and Curios and Hive Bodega.

Some businesses have special offers for the day only and some, like Grantski Records, are having special sales throughout the weekend, which encompasses Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

At Funhouse, shoppers can expect to find 2022 Lunar wall calendars by Margins Imprint out of Ojai, Calif., and herbal teas and infusions from Chattanooga, Tenn., along with the store’s other paper goods, apparel and gifts.

At Freshwater Design Co., the business is partnering with Emerald oX to provide coffee and cocoa to shoppers all day long.

The Book Tavern will host writer Deron Hicks for a book signing for his new work, The Crown Heist, and Kenneth James Benson will be drawing live portraits in his illustration machine.

There will be other holiday treats and other surprises in-store on the day itself, consistent with many of the other businesses also participating in Small Business Saturday.

Shoppers can visit Augusta & Co. to pick up a free Love Augusta tote on Saturday (first 200 visitors). Augusta & Co. will also be providing free gift-wrapping on the day.

This event is sponsored by the participating businesses as well as Kruhu, Augusta & Co. and the Downtown Development Authority.

“As the Augusta experience center, Augusta & Co. is proud to serve as headquarters for this
retail collaboration amongst downtown business,” said Sarah Childers, director of community
engagement at Destination Augusta. “Providing a free tote bag and DIY gift-wrapping station
should serve to incentivize shopping local in our city during this national initiative.”
