Investigators have now named 23-year-old Cedric Alandus Peters as the suspect in the case. Peters, who is 5’5” and weighs approximately 125 pounds, is wanted on an active Grand Jury arrest warrant charging him with malice murder in connection to the killing as well as home invasion, burglary and weapons offenses.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office released a wanted bulletin urging the public to contact authorities immediately if they encounter Peters or have information regarding his whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to contact any on-duty Violent Crimes Investigator at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1080. Callers may remain anonymous.

The fatal shooting marked the second violent incident involving Kimmerlin, who survived a brutal assault in May 2016 when he was struck multiple times in the head with a metal handle from a floor jack. His attacker, Gerald Wayne Polk, was later sentenced to three years in prison for aggravated assault.
