Suspicious: Man’s body found in unsafe, condemned home in Augusta

Date: May 14, 2025

Richmond County authorities are investigating a suspicious death after a man’s body was found Tuesday morning in a unsafe home on Harding Road.

The man has been identified as David Grigg, 62 years old, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The man’s friend alerted deputies to the discovery in the home at 2206 Harding Road in Augusta, which sits between Peach Orchard and Richmond Hill Roads.

“A male was found in the front room of the residence which was unsafe, nasty and uninhabitable,” the coroner said. “The male was pronounced dead on the scene.”

An autopsy will be scheduled, and sheriff’s investigators remained on the scene throughout the morning, working on the case.

Three people are wanted for questioning, including Javon Johnson, Kelly McBurney and Jessica Spurling. Call 706-821-1020 if you can help.
