A tanker truck carrying waste water overturned at Belair Road and Washington Road Monday, but fire and environmental crews contained the spill.

Sparks Industrial Services driver Ray Pack said he turned onto Washington Road when the water sloshed in the tank and the weight shift knocked his company’s Freightliner Cascadia truck onto its side. No one was injured, no other vehicles were involved and deputies kept the road open for traffic, said Columbia County Sheriff’s Department Staff Sgt. Ray Childress.

Fire crews put soak pads under the truck and caught the small amount of water that leaked. No waste made it into the storm drain, said C. Scott Daniel, the Columbia County environmental compliance coordinator.

The tanker carried water from a business that services catalytic converters, Pack and Daniel said.
