A former Columbia County high school teacher accused of sexual misconduct in 2017 was arraigned Tuesday, Sept. 6, on a charge of sexual contact by a person with supervisory authority.

Although Scott Hooker, 40, was investigated back in 2017 when the alleged conduct was reported by a student, he wasn’t arrested nor indicted until last month — four months after he was accused of similar conduct at Burke County High School.

The former Evans High School student who accused Hooker of putting his hand on her rear-end in February 2017 testified before the Columbia County grand jury which returned the indictment against Hooker Aug. 8.

Hooker has been held without bond since his arrest Aug. 11. He was arraigned on the felony charge Tuesday in Columbia County Superior Court and pleaded not guilty.

In Burke County, Hooker is charged with three misdemeanor offenses for allegedly having sexual contact with a 17-year-old student at the school between Jan. 1 and March 25. He was granted bond in that case in April.
