Two North Augusta teens were charged Friday for gunfire that injured a woman outside the Hitchcock Animal Hospital in Aiken.

Jaylon Sims, 18, and Rashod Boyd, 19, both of North Augusta, are accused of opening fire April 23 on three apartments at Ashton Apartment Homes in Aiken. The gunfire traveled over to the nearby animal hospital and struck the forearm of an innocent bystander who was outside the business, police said. The woman was treated at a local hospital.

On Friday, the teens were charged by Aiken Public Safety with assault and battery – high and aggravated, weapon possession, aggravated breach of peace and multiple counts of discharging a weapon into a dwelling.

Aiken Public Safety was also assisted in this investigation by Aiken County Sherriff’s Office, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, ATF Task Force and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.
