Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with Sunday’s road rage shooting on Interstate 20 that left a man and woman injured.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Miranda Myers, 17, of the 200 block of Gustav Court in North Augusta, and Cameron Howard, 17, of the 4100 block of Sapling Lane in Augusta. The shooting occurred at approximately 4:29 p.m. Sunday on I-20 westbound near mile marker 196.

Myers and Howard were each charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Howard also faces one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Both are being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

Deputies responded to the shooting after receiving reports of a person shot inside a vehicle. They found a gray Toyota Camry with multiple bullet holes and two occupants who had been wounded by gunfire. The male driver was struck in the left ankle, and the female passenger was hit in the left shoulder. Both were transported to Doctors Hospital and are listed in stable condition. A relative reported that the female victim suffered a collapsed lung, damage to the spine, and paralysis.

According to the driver, a blue Tesla pulled alongside the Camry while they were traveling westbound. Myers was reportedly driving the Tesla, and a male suspect allegedly leaned out of the window and fired between five to six rounds into the Camry.

After the shooting, the Tesla exited the interstate at Exit 194 in Columbia County. A deputy later located the vehicle on Banbury Way in Grovetown. Myers was detained at the scene, while the male suspect fled on foot and was later captured.

Cameron Howard (April arrest mugshot)

Howard was arrested for battery in April for an earlier incident in Grovetown. Authorities say the teen hit his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend inside her home on West Creek Mill Court, punching her in the let temple and leaving a welt.

The victim said Howard had come to her home to talk about their recent break-up.

Meanwhile, Myers was pictured posing outside a blue Tesla in prom photos taken and posted in late April on Facebook by Savannah Zaveri Photography. The caption reads, “Miranda was the definition of Prom Perfection.”

There are reports the blue Tesla was owned by relatives of Myers, but that has not been confirmed. Myers has no record of previous arrests, according to a records search.
