Temporary lane closures announced for several roads in Columbia County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will temporarily close and detour part of Atomic Road in Aiken County for bridge repairs beginning January 6.

Columbia County, in partnership with Reeves Construction Company, has announced temporary lane closures on Pleasant Home Road, Oak Street North, Roswell Drive and Old Washington Road.

Starting Wednesday, June 18, the lane closure on Pleasant Home Road will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, until Monday, June 23, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Oak Street North and Old Washington Road will also be closed on Wednesday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., due to resurfacing, and Roswell Drive will have a lane closure from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, through Friday, June 20.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes when possible.

Drivers should slow down as they approach the work zones, maintain extra distance between vehicles, and follow advanced warning signs and flaggers, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Columbia County officials are requesting locals remain vigilant for potential changes in traffic patterns and allow extra time for commuting during these hours.

All closures will be weather-dependent.
