Contractors with E. R. Snell will continue construction activities related to the ongoing roadway widening project on Lewiston Road, causing Columbia County to announce extended temporary lane closures.

As part of the project, extended, intermittent, temporary lane closures will take place from Columbia Road to the Diverging Diamond Interchange at Interstate 20.

The closures are necessary for concrete work and will continue through Friday, June 13, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each weekday, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching work zones.

To ensure safety, drivers should slow down, maintain extra distance between vehicles, adhere to road crew flaggers and expect unexpected delays, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Where possible, travelers are encouraged to plan alternate routes or allow extra time to accommodate potential delays.

For additional updates, Columbia County officials suggest drivers stay tuned to local traffic advisories.
