The Richmond County School System (RCSS) has provided an update on the ongoing construction of the new Belair Middle School facility, announcing a tentative opening date of Oct. 21. Students are currently attending classes at the former Langford Middle School until the new building is completed.
The new facility will be located at 150 Potential Way in Augusta.
In a news release, RCSS Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw said “I am grateful to Belair Middle School staff, students and families for their patience and resilience during the transition. Thanks to their hard work, students settled seamlessly at the temporary Langford facility.”

“Since the summer, our maintenance staff have worked diligently with our contractors to open the doors of our new, state-of-the-art building for the Belair Middle School community,” the release continued. “We are excited to officially announce a move-in date soon.”
The Richmond County Board of Education plans to host a Called Building Committee Walk-Through of the new facility on Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. Further updates are available at rcboe.org/bmsupdates.
