“It’s primarily two-dimensional art,” said Heather Rene Dunaway, who is curating the event. “There are a few 3D; we have digital, paintings, drawings. There’s some wood-burning.”
From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Charles Campbell, the author of several horror novels, will read original scary short stories.
People are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items for Golden Harvest Food Bank’s “It’s Spooky To Be Hungry” food drive. A social canvas giving others the chance to add to a piece of art will be set up as part of the event.
A closing reception will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 30. It will include a charitable art auction and mini art market.

Also on First Friday will be the Meaningful Nonsense: Fifth Annual Art Exhibition Celebrating the Works of Our Local Tattoo Community at the 600 Broad Gallery.
“In 2017, tattoo and fine artist Daniel James of Olde Tyme Tattoo and Regina L. Brejda of 4P Studios coordinated to bring Augusta its first showcase of original fine art created by a variety of local tattoo artists. The exhibition held in October of that year at the 600 Broad Gallery was widely received with positive reviews and much success. In 2019, 4P Studios was excited to add Charlie Baker of Mr. Tattoo to the planning committee for this annual event,” according to information from 4P Studios’ monthly newsletter.
The reception will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. The exhibition will run through Oct. 29.
Another spooky art event this weekend is the Danse Macabre Dark Arts exhibition.
The reception will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 2 at Studio 21, 2413 Wilkshire Dr., near National Hills Shopping Center.
