The City of North Augusta continues to grow and with that growth comes both challenges and opportunities; after studying the qualifications and interviewing both candidates for Mayor, The Augusta Press Editorial Board unanimously endorses Republican Briton Williams.
Prior to becoming a political candidate for Mayor, Williams built an impressive resume as a business leader in North Augusta. After spending 13 years in banking, Williams has been a successful financial advisor through Edward Jones for 22 years and earned the 2004 Businessperson of the Year Award from the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce.

Business accolades aside, the city of North Augusta needs a Mayor with a forward vision and Williams is the only candidate proposing real solutions to the city’s growing pains with a solid economic plan.
Williams understands that blight is one of the main issues facing any growing city and he plans to lead the effort to expand the North Augusta Industrial Park which is currently near 100% occupancy. An expansion of the industrial park will bring more jobs to the eastern side of the city which will encourage more small business to the area. Such a strategy has proven in the past to be a major remedy of blight.
In terms of the downtown area, Williams is committed to the expansion of the North Augusta Greenway and linking the beautiful natural walking and biking trails near the river with the downtown area. The relatively low cost of extending the Greenway combined with the benefits to the local economy makes it a no-brainer that such a plan should be implemented post haste.
Williams is the candidate with the financial savvy to make both the industrial park and Greenway expansions a reality.

Some would say that in modern politics integrity and a record of public service do not matter. That is not so with North Augusta voters, if history is any guide. North Augustans have always demanded a measure of selflessness on the part of their elected officials and Williams passes the test.
Williams has vowed not to accept a paycheck as Mayor of North Augusta.
The results of the North Augusta Mayoral election will have ramifications across the entire CSRA. It is important that voters who want to see North Augusta thrive will go to the polls on Tuesday and elect Briton Williams as Mayor.
