The Augusta Press wins multiple Georgia Press Association Awards Friday

The Augusta Press won multiple awards at Friday’s Georgia Press Association Awards ceremony.

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.  – The Augusta Press won multiple awards at Friday’s Georgia Press Association Awards ceremony.

“This is about the work you did in 2021. it was important to your community. We need to celebrate this,” said Len Robbins, the event’s emcee.

First-place awards went to columnist Sylvia Cooper, who won for humorous column; the staff for breaking news coverage, and Debbie Reddin Van Tuyll for photo essay.

Photographer Mike Adams won six awards including first place awards in sports feature and overall sports.

Tyler Strong and Scott Hudson won second and third place in the investigative category and Hudson and Sylvia Cooper won third for community service.

And The Augusta Press took a third place in overall general excellence in addition to the Freedom of Information Award.
