I have been waiting for 11 months and 30 days and finally, the day has come. The day that starts the 30 day celebration.

You may be thinking I am confused with the one day, Memorial Day we just marked on May 26 to commemorate the over 2.6 million Americans who have died in wars since 1775. You know, combat deaths and deaths from other causes related to military service. They proudly wore uniforms and beamed to represent America, land of the free and home of the brave. Soldiers, both men and women, who will never be husbands or wives, mothers or fathers, grandpas and grandmas. They left behind grieving moms, dads, some widows or widowers, some left children who only have a photograph to show them what they looked like. You know that one day we remember those who gave their lives by having a few parades, but lots of grilled pork, brats, plenty of cold beer, a day off work and hanging by the pool or boating on the lake. No, I am not referring to that one day to pay tribute to those 2.6 million who we owe our liberty and freedom to.

You may be thinking I am confused with the one day when we honor mothers. That was May 11 this year. Always on the second Sunday since 1908, one of the highest worship attendance day as all kids with a conscience and a mother who goes to church put on their best outfits and go to church to honor their Mothers.

No, I ain’t confused with Father’s Day, upcoming. Dads are kinda an after thought, until your dad is gone. Most dads will tell you there is no need to come over, just calling was enough. Then most families will go visit the dad who needs the visit.

No sir, no sir at all. The 30 day celebration I have been waiting for, even counting the days down to is Pride Celebration Month.

Pride Month, sometimes specified as LGBTQ Pride Month, is a month-long observance dedicated to the celebration of LGBTQ pride, commemorating the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) culture and community. A month long celebration.

I think I read this LGBTQ thing has now been expanded to the term LGBTQIA+. The plus (+) appears to be in case they missed something. LGBTQIA+ evidently is an acronym used to represent a diverse group of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other non-binary, non-heterosexual identities. Wikipedia says the “plus” indicates that it encompasses a wide range of gender and sexual identities that are not explicitly included in the acronym.

This is the biggest pile of warm excrement I have ever heard of.

We give one day to memorialize 2.6 million Americans who gave their lives in defense of freedom and liberty.

We give one day to honor mothers, passed away or alive.

We give one day to honor fathers, passed away or alive.

This nation, and what started my mindset was Google’s moniker on their search engine, has chosen to honor people for 30 days who don’t know if they are male or female, a man or a woman, a man who may like men, a woman who may like women.

This is the most ludicrous and outrageous affront to common sense I have seen in my life.

Now that I have vented by saying my peace, I do have some logic to explain and help me to understand.

I will warn you: I am a Christian. I make no apology for that in the slightest. In fact, I try to declare that in my life under the directive to be the salt of the Earth. That means I trust Jesus is the Son of God, lived and died as a sinless man, who was God incarnate, to pay the price for all of mankind’s sins as a savior to the Gentiles and Messiah to the Jews. That also means my perspective is from the Bible, believing it to be the inerrant inspired word of God.

That being said, ever since Satan resisted God and he and a third of the angels were cast from Heaven, Satan has set about the task of subverting God’s plan for man.

God established His church as the bride and Christ as the groom. God also set up the family structure as that with the man running the household and the woman as his helpmate.

This needs a lot of explanation to non-believers and those not versed in the Bible (God’s word).

Since the serpent (Satan) convinced humans (Eve) to disobey God, he has worked hard to destroy the structure of the family as designed by God.

One of Satan’s many methods has been a confusion of the sexes, confusion of the definition of a family and confusion of the definition of marriage. Political parties have placated and facilitated Satan’s plan.

Consider that according to AI overview (Whatever that is) In 2025, Gallup polling data indicated that 9.3% of U.S. adults identify as LGBTQ+, according to Gallup News. This is an increase from 7.6% in 2023. The largest proportion of this population identifies as bisexual (5.2%).

Consider that of this 9.3%, 5.2% consider “any port in the storm” is sufficient to plug into any socket.

In closing, please consider perspective. We give one day to honor patriots who died defending our country. We give one day honoring our mothers. We give one day honoring our fathers.

Then we give 30 days celebration and honoring(?) LGBTQIA+ people who tip the scales at 9.3 of our population?

I can tell you this, for a fact. I won’t be attending parades with subjugated Rainbow flags flying. (God’s promise was signified by “the” rainbow).

I won’t be watching TV coverage of scantily clad men nor women nor men as women nor women as men in shows. Just go away. Go perverse in the privacy of your own home. That’s where I practice my own sexual activity. I don’t get a month of heterosexual recognition, nor do I need it.

Just let us live our lives, you live yours. I will stand for judgement for mine, you stand for judgement for yours. And you LGBTQIA+ pastors, God has a special place for you, “where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

A product of Richmond County and lifelong Augustan, Doug Lively appreciates the value of the written word and how it marks thoughts, ideas, history and opinion for posterity. Words matter. The spoken word can be laced with inflection and expression to nuance meaning but the written word requires work to precisely relay a thought, idea or opinion. It is an art in danger of extinction.
