Step into a jazzy world of the Roaring Twenties this upcoming spring with a new production of The Great Gatsby coming to Columbia County.

On April 26, 2025, the World Ballet Company will perform its world premiere of its new show at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center (CCPAC), located at 1000 Market St.

Based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick, the World Ballet Company built its reputation on presenting the most beloved and iconic ballets nationwide.

“Driven by the belief that ballet is for everyone, performances appeal to newcomers and seasoned ballet goers alike,” stated a press release from the CCPAC. “The company attracts many international artists and comprises renowned professional dancers representing over ten countries.”

Starting at 7 p.m., audiences will be invited to see a two-hour show that will highlight “the glitz, glamor and tragic romance of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless novel” live on stage,” according to a press release from the CCPAC.

The show will feature a multinational cast of 40 professional ballet dancers, handcrafted costumes and “lavish, groundbreaking” sets.

“The original scene evokes the energy and atmosphere of the 1920s,” stated a press release from the CCPAC. “World Ballet Company’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ is a must-see feast for the eyes.”

The production’s team encompasses renowned choreographer Ilya Zhivoy, costume designer Sonya Vertanyan and celebrated, LA-based film and TV composer Anna Dubrich.

While Zhivoy focused on capturing the passion of Great Gatsby’s central love with a sensual, dynamic style, Dubrich’s work is making a ballet debut with a “rich, lively score” that embraces the sounds of the Jazz Age.

Tickets went on sale Friday, Sept. 13 and range from $38.25 to $95. Interested parties can use the code OLDSPORT to get early access.
